Curriculum
We cover the National Curriculum 2014 objectives for Year 4 and have three cross-curricular themes throughout the year:
Learning By Questions Homework
At Rosset Acre, we use Learning by Questions in lessons but also for weekly homework in KS2. Learning by Questions (LbQ), is an online teaching and learning platform designed for primary schools. It provides ready-made, interactive question sets for subjects like maths, English, and science, delivering immediate, personalised feedback to pupils and a real-time performance matrix for teachers to support interventions and track progress.
Homework
In Year 4, children are expected to complete the English and Maths tasks below to support their learning in school. They also have the option of completing theme-related homework.
English:
Regular reading to an adult or themselves – there is a direct link between reading regularly and doing well in school. We hope that children will read for 20 minutes per day.
Practise weekly spellings – children should practise for 5-10 minutes at least 3 times a week or until they know them. Spellings will be put on Dojo on a Mondays and tested weekly.
Maths
At the end of Year Four, all children will complete a Multiplication Tables Check and are expected to know their times tables up to 12 x 12. Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) has different modes to support children to develop fluency with their tables in an engaging format. Children have their own TTRS login details. We hope they will enjoy using this at home.
LBQ tasks will be set by the teachers regularly. These will link to their current learning in school.
