Our curriculum

Geography

Intent Statement

In Geography, we follow the National Curriculum 2014. We aim to weave the objectives into cross-curricular themes which are planned with the children’s fascination and interest in mind. Cultural and global studies are an important part of our school curriculum, and feature heavily within our Geographical work.

Vision for Geography

As part of Rossett Acre’s value of ‘Excellence and Happiness for All’, our vision for Geography is to encourage children to become passionate about the world around them, including environmental issues which will impact on their future. Through excellent teaching, creative activities and inspiring lessons we hope to create happy inquisitive explorers who will aspire to travel the world and experience different countries, languages and cultures. We aim to use the latest technology to enable children to explore places in the world which might otherwise be inaccessible to them,

SEND

For children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to experience success, enjoyment and embrace learning in geography, barriers to learning and participation are removed through additional support and / or adapted provision. Please refer to our Whole School Provision Map, Our Support Strategies for Inclusive Classrooms and Inclusivity in... documents which can be found in the SEND section of our website.

Eco Schools

We are a school which is passionate about environmental issues. The school has an Eco Committee which is comprised of children from every year group (Y1 to Y6). We have achieved our Bronze, Silver and Green Flag awards due to our hard work towards the Eco Schools topics. This year, we are working on projects linked to the topics of Waste, Litter and Energy.
