We had a fantastic NHS Day last week, when lots of our parents came into school to talk about their roles in the NHS.
Well done to 8 of our children who visited Rossett Nature Reserve to do some litter picking. The collected 3 bags of rubbish.
Children celebrated World Book Day with the theme of "Inspirational People". It was great to see so many of our children dressed up.
Well done to some of our talented children who attended a Music Day at Harrogate Ladies College.
We spoke to our new CEO, Ian Tucker, to find out more about his background and his vision for Red Kite Learning Trust.
Year 3 welcomed Rabbi Ally from the United Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.
Children from Singing Squad had a wonderful time at Young Voices in Sheffield .
Thank you to Sarah from Kairos Church who shared the story of Joseph and his coat of many colours in our assembly on Monday.
We were delighted to host 29 Chinese Principals/Vice Principals from 21 different schools across China as part of a six day inquiry programme across the UK.
Thank you to Harrogate Grammar School Sports Leaders who came to school to work with our Year 5 pupils.

Some of our children joined members of the Harrogate Rotary Club to plant purple crocuses at the top of Valley Gardens.
Well done to our Year 5 girls who took part in a netball tournament at Ashville.
We are proud to announce that Mrs Robinson and Miss Pearson received Gold for the school category in the Harrogate in Bloom competition.
Children celebrated Harvest Festival at St Mark's Church. The generous donations from parents have been given to the local Food Bank. Thank you, it is very much appreciated.
Children have been celebrating European Day of Languages. They have been creating welcome signs for the classroom doors.
Year 6 had a fantastic trip to East Barnby. They enjoyed activities such as body boarding, skiing and beck scrambling.
This week has been another busy week with amazing learning happening all over school. We continue to embed our new One Life morning routine which starts the day off in a calm way ensuring we are all ready to do our best learning.
Our EYFS children are settling in well and have enjoyed their first Forest School session.

Some of our KS2 children took part in the Brownlee mini Triathlon last week. They were so excited to meet the Brownlee brothers.
We had over a hundred fantastic entries to our Rossett Show. Well done to our parent Jenny Marks and to Edward R who won best in show.
We welcomed some of our Year 4 parents to enjoy lunch with their children.

Our children were treated to a fabulous afternoon of singing from the Harrogate Male Voice Choir.
Today is the last day of our Book Fair. Thank you to everyone for supporting this and raising much needed funds for school.
We had a fantastic result at the Primary Schools Chess Tournament - we came first!
As part of our Great Big School Clean, some of our families have been litter picking in the community. We are so proud of their efforts.
Well done to our two Y6 netball teams who took part in the Red Kite netball tournament at Harrogate Grammar School. The came 2nd and 3rd overall.
Children had a fun time at games night raising money for Candlelighters. They raised a fantastic £290.00.
Well done to Year 4 who raised £180 through their enterprise project. Some of the profits will be used to buy Easter eggs for the Food Bank. We are so proud that our children are thinking of others.
There has been so much happening in school this week, we've had a visit from the Army, children have taken part in recycling workshops, parents had an online safety talk, Singing Squad attended Musical Magic at the Royal Hall, and we had World Book Day.
Children in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed STEM workshops run by Claire Garside from The EXA Foundation.
Exciting opportunity to join a parent meeting re: child online safety, smartphone use and mental health.
This week it is Children’s Mental Health Week and Miss Whiteley led an assembly on Monday about this year’s theme ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’ which encourages children and young people to embrace self-awareness and build their resilience to cope with life’s ups and downs. A huge thank you to Miss Whiteley for leading her first assembly and for making it so interesting for the children.
Our Year 5 boys had a fantastic result at the football tournament on Tuesday. They came first, winning or drawing all their games.

We had a very interesting visit from Energy Sparks to talk about our school's energy use.
We have once again being successful in achieving the Finance and Enterprise Award for our school.
Our Year 2 children visited Pizza Express last week where they made their own pizzas to bring back to school.

Today is World Polio Day. Some of our children visited Valley Gardens and helped plant crocuses to promote awareness of the campaign to eradicate polio.

Rossett Acre Primary School has been awarded the Red Kite Alliance RED Award recognising the schools’ culture of inclusion.
Children enjoyed a visit from Abraham and Derrick from Harrogate Town AFC, who read a chapter from the book about footballer, Harry Kane.
Children enjoyed lots of reading activities this week and yesterday dressed up for World Book Day.

Some of our children attended the Young Voices concert at Sheffield on 9 February. They sang beautifully and were a real credit to school.
Well done to our Year 5/6 footballers who came 2nd in the Utilita Football Competition at Harrogate High School.
This term, our Youth Board met up to discuss rewilding initiatives, Trust-wide sustainability, improving attendance and ideas for future meeting agendas.

This week we have been wowed by the children's nativity and Christmas productions.
We are delighted to announce that we were recently awarded the Silver Healthy Schools award. Well done to Miss MacGillivray who worked hard on this to obtain our award.

The Christmas tree is up, Christmas productions are in full swing with their rehearsals and some naughty elves have been up to various activities around school.

Thank you to everyone who visited our jumble sale last Saturday. We raised over £860, plus £125 from the Bag2School collection for the leftover items.
I wanted to say a huge thank you to the parents and children (PTA) who held a Cake Bake on the last day of term before the holidays. It was so popular that they ran out of cakes!
Thank you to everyone who provided cakes for the sale and to those of you who bought cakes too.
The sale raised £300.07! A fantastic amount.

We are delighted to share that we have been awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ – Silver Status.
Silver status means that we have contributed to mental health in the local area.

The children had a fabulous time at East Barnby this year. Despite the weather being absolutely atrocious for the first few days, the children really got stuck in to the activities and not a single child complained about the heavy (continuous) rain and up to 40mph winds!
This week our Year 6 children, along with Mrs Ingle; Mrs Mansfield; Miss Matthews; Mrs Lang and Mr Marshall, have been on their residential at East Barnby.
This week our EYFS children have experienced their first week in school and it is fabulous to see them playing and learning. I am always amazed at how quickly young children settle into school and love how they delight in telling you about their learning.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer holiday. The children have been telling me about some exciting visits, holidays and trips. It has been good to be back in school and hear, and feel it, come alive again, with the sound of children.

In this year’s report we have chosen to celebrate the successes of our schools, communities, colleagues, and young people by telling some of the stories from across our Trust.

On Monday this week, Alison Wheat from Harrogate Library led an assembly on the Summer Reading Challenge. She challenged the children to read six books over the summer. A leaflet has been sent out to classes to give you more information
A huge thank you to everyone who came to the Summer Fair on Saturday, it was a great turnout and the weather was glorious for us. The ice-cream van line remained long, all day, and the storytime marquee was a great success too.
On Monday, Charlotte (Year 6 pupil who is part of the Trust Youth Board) visited Harrogate Grammar and Western School to look at 1:1 iPad scheme.The Youth Board viewed lessons at Western Primary to see them in action and then had lunch and a discussion with Richard Sheriff.
Well done to everyone who entered an exhibit in this year’s show. There were over 300 entries all the way from Early Years to Year 6; some from our pre-school children and some from parents and teachers.
There has been a definite buzz around school this week with exciting things happening. The Annual Show was another success, and I was very tempted to try all the yummy looking cakes, breads and jams as I was taking a look at the entries.
We've got lots of events planned for this Summer term, annual show, sports days to name a few.
The deadline for entries is 9am on Thursday 8th June. The show takes place on Tuesday 13th June. Entries need to be dropped off on the day by 8.45am at the Sports Hall.
On Thursday, last week, we held a New Starters Information meeting for parents/carers’ of children who will join us in September. The event was well attended and it was great sharing information about our school and enabling those present to have a look at our Early Years classrooms and meet the teachers.
This week, Year 6 have been sitting their KS2 SATs. They have one Maths paper left to complete tomorrow and then they will have finished them. Hurrah! The Y6 children have been fabulous all week, they have been an absolute pleasure in our SATs breakfast club and they have approached their SATs so maturely. I am so proud of them all. Well done.
This week has been a little strange, the bank holiday and industrial action has caused the days to meld into one and nobody is quite sure what day it is! However, the children have been working hard and lots has been going on.

On Monday, Mr Alastair Field, the Head of primary at Roundhay School, Leeds, visited us for the morning to look at the quality of our writing in school and speak to children and staff. Mr Field was very complimentary about our children’s writing and really enjoyed observing the teachers and children working in class.
At the beginning of the Spring Term, all Year 5 pupils were offered the opportunity to become 'Play Leaders'. The aim of the Playground Leaders scheme is to introduce and develop leadership skills in Year 5 children by training them up and getting them to organise activities for other children in the playground.
Welcome back to the start of the Summer term. I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed one or two Easter eggs!
On Friday, last week, our school hosted a Red Kite Learning Trust Recruitment Open Day. This was organised by our Trust HR team and it was great to share information about our school and the opportunities available to us by being part of a Trust.
Our Joke-a-Thon was a great success, and we had a very smiley week listening to and voting for a whole variety of jokes.
Latest news from Rossett Acre. On Friday last week, we had a lovely Red Nose Day. We raised £284.10. Thank you so much to everyone who donated. Look out for the winning jokes in this newsletter – further down.
Thank you to all our parents/carers’ who attended our Open Classroom event on Tuesday. I know the children were thrilled to see you and share their work.
On Friday 3rd March, Mrs Wood's class led a spectacular circus themed assembly to their parents as well as the Year 2, Year 1 and Reception classes.
Our PVA (Pupil Voice Ambassadors) have chosen Comic Relief to be our main charity event this year, outside of money raising activities for school-based projects.

Welcome back, everyone. I hope you had a lovely half term break.
I can’t quite believe that we have reached the end of another half term! It has been a busy week in school with lots of exciting things taking place.
At Rossett Acre Primary this week I have seen Y3 (PA/EH) rehearsing their assembly which they are performing next week. I can’t wait for parents/carers to come back into school and watch their children perform.
This week, Miss Woodcock led our whole school Monday assembly. She showed the children the importance of being kind and that once words are out in the open, you can’t take them back. This was demonstrated with a tube of toothpaste, where one child squeezed all the toothpaste out of the tube and another child tried to put it back, to no avail.
